7th Northamptonshire were part of 73 Brigade, 24th Division. Between March and July 1916, 24th Division were in the line at Messines, south of Ypres, before moving south to the Somme at the end of July. William Lamerton died of wounds on 2nd July, 1916, after having been evacuated to a hospital in Boulogne on the coast. As yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded.
